Nepali church, prayer, and momos

On Saturday 1/5, we had church in the morning. It was their main service, so it was all Nepali worship. Robert gave the message, and the Tansen church members were really touched by it! Afterwards, we all at lunch at the hotel - including Prakash - and then went to have tea with a family living on the second level of Pastor Durgha's house, where Myriah, Kelly, and Lauren were staying. People from our group had been there every day since we had gotten to Tansen to pray for the woman's dad, who was lying in a coma in one of the bedrooms. His daughter was a counselor at the Tansen hospital, and she was taking care of him there. It was a heavy environment, but the family was still in good spirits, and was very welcoming and grateful that we had come.

Later that night, we met back at the church for a group powwow and some worship, and then had a momo party with the Nepalis (if you don't remember, momos are little steamed or fried dumplings filled with meat or vegetables. They're delicious.) Some of the group joined those who were making the momos, to learn how to do it; I'm more of a food eater than a food maker, so I just waited until they were ready. In a little while we were all eating momos and soup - I don't know what kind, but it was also delicious - as we sat around a fire. The fire wasn't very sturdily built, and at one point one of the logs collapsed, sending a few flaming branches and sparks flying at those closest to it. Thankfully, no one was hurt (just spooked.)

We played multiple games of Uno with the Nepalis - once again, it was surreal and awesome to experience that kind of normal thing from my childhood in a totally different culture and location. We hung out and chatted with them well into the night, until it was time to head to bed...we had an early morning the next day!
